I learned that inside the Master Procrastinator is an Instant-Gratification Monkey who calls out to play constantly against the will and plans of the Rational Decision Maker. They are constantly at war and the monkey keeps taking over the wheel of steer and in control. Until, the Panic Monster shows up, typically a day or hours before the deadline.
The Panic Monster is incredible, he can cause the brain to focus and complete a task well. Two kinds of Procrastination
1) Deadline - Panic Monster will be involved
2) No Deadline - No reason for Panic Monster to be involved
Panic Monster helps us to have a healthy relationship with the Deadline.
Think about our life as boxes, each box represent a week! If we continue to procrastinate, we will have regrets and look carefully, after wasting so much time, there are no many boxes left. Think about it. What are we really procrastinate on? Stay away from the Instant-Gratification Monkey.
